Week 2 - Family Ties

So we have made it through week 2 - few!

Aunt Lu and Pop Pop made the long journey from Baltimore to Donnelly to meet Elaina! We had a great long weekend! Everyone pitched in and helped Colin and I get our house in order for Elaina - from washing our windows to cleaning cars... What can I say, when you are pregnant - you let things get a little "disgusting."

We had a big day out and about with Elaina's first car show with Pop Pop and Daddy and we finished it off with an afternoon at the Hot Springs! On Saturday evening, Grandma and Grandpa Gamble arrived bringing us a huge 52" TV all the way from Vegas in the back of a rental Pick up Truck! We had the traditional Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday with the entire immediate family and finished it off with a special bottle of Dom Perignon to toast the new addition to our family.
Mom Mom, Pop Pop and Aunt Lu left early on Monday morning to make the long trip home and Grandma and Grandpa Gamble will be staying with us through Saturday. All of the help and support we have received from the family has been wonderful and has allowed Mommy a speedy recovery. Still have a ways to go, but I don't know how I would have done this without them!

On Wednesday, all the Gambles piled in the jeep to take Elaina down to Intermountain Orthopedics to see Dr. Buzz about her hips. He confirmed that she has DDH (Developmental Displaysia of the Hips) which is a condition fairly common in first born girls born in the Frank Breech Position. She will be in the Pavlic Harness Seen below for 4 to 8 weeks with check ups in Boise every 2 weeks. She seems to be unphased by the whole thing, but Mommy is a bit stressed out by it all. Leave it to my daughter to be in the orthopedic office within 2 weeks of birth! She is already taking after her Mommy!

So we have had several days of long fussy phases, but we seem to be making our way... Learning lots every day. We are so happy to have had the entire family together and thank everyone for the efforts made to make us comfortable and supporting us throughout this amazing event!

I am so grateful that I was able to arrive in time for the big event! They were 13 very special days that I shall long cherish! Keep kissing my granddaughter on our special spot and remind her that she has her very own mountain! Love you all, Mom
